Take Action to Stop the Coal Plant in Surry VA!
BREAKING NEWS: First Victory Against Big Coal in Surry!

Take Action!
Here's how you can help us stop Old Dominion Electric Cooperative’s Surry Coal Plant in Hampton Roads:
Send a Message to ODEC:
Click here to send an email to ODEC President Jack Reasor urging him to abandon plans for what they are calling the "Cypress Creek Power Plant" and invest instead in efficiency and renewable energy.
Tell the Hampton Roads Metro Planning Organization to Say No to Surry Coal Plant:
Hampton Roads is to be designated as a non-attainment area for ozone in March of 2010 by the EPA. Regions on the EPA's "dirty-air list" will have one year to develop a plan to reduce ozone levels. Why then would we want to make our air quality even worse by building a coal-fired power plant in our area? Click here to tell the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to oppose the Surry coal plant.
Write a Letter to the Editor:
The Letter to the Editor Section is one of the most widely read sections of the newspaper and can reach a large audience. It allows community members to comment on the way issues are being addressed in the media and to influence the topics the local paper may choose to cover. Elected officials often monitor this section of the newspaper and take notice of constituents' opinions. Click here to get started writing your LTE.
