Fall Jamboree
When:
Sep 12, 2008
through Sep 14, 2008
The jamboree begins on Friday evening with a social and campfire sing along and ends Sunday morning with one or two sessions, followed by lunch.
Details:
The Virginia Chapter Sierra Club is holding a jamboree at the Ecology Center at Pocahontas State Park. The jamboree begins on Friday evening with a social and campfire sing along.
Saturday presentations will focus on environmental education - how to address global warming through grass-roots organizing - and updates on other issues of concern to Virginians. Successful local solutions such as community-based agriculture, land conservancies and other projects here in Virginia will be emphasized. Walks will also be offered for those who want to enjoy the outdoors.
Saturday evening will be a casual affair featuring a banquet and a keynote speaker. The evening will conclude with socializing and entertainment. The Jamboree ends Sunday morning with one or two sessions, followed by lunch.
Housing is available in rustic cabins at the Ecology Center. Camping is not allowed at the Ecology Center, but some families make separate arrangements to camp elsewhere in the park at an additional charge.
This is a chance to meet Sierra Club members from other parts of the state, to enjoy a beautiful outdoor setting, and to come away with renewed energy for environmental work.
Hold the dates, September 12-14, and check the Old Dominion Sierran for a registration form and further details. You can also download a brochure and registration form here.
