Recycle Twice Chesterfield is a coalition of county residents, businesses and associations who oppose reducing the frequency of curbside recycling collection.
Currently, residential curbside recycling collection service is provided every two weeks.
The County Administrator has proposed that the frequency of collection service be reduced to once every four weeks beginning July 1, 2009. The change would produce a savings of about $400,000 per year - or only 34 cents per household, per month.
Recycle Twice Chesterfield encourages the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors to reject this proposal because:
It will reduce recycling and increase the amount of waste going to area landfills because residents will not want to store recyclables at their homes for a month before collection;
It will increase trash disposal rates for Chesterfield residents as the amount of trash being sent to area landfills includes more uncollected recyclables;
It will tarnish Chesterfield's image as a "green" community.
Help Defeat the Proposal: Join Recycle Twice Chesterfield and Take Action to keep curbside recycling collection at your house every two weeks.
