This will have to be short - two main messages, for November and December:

November’s highest priority: Vote! The Sierra Club has endorsed Sen. Obama and I do too. To speak only of the environment, a new Democratic administration is the best viable organization for addressing climate change and breaking the stranglehold big oil has on our economy. Vote like the fate of the world depends on this election. Get all your family and friends to vote; put out yard signs and wear buttons and influence people the right way.

Annie Dillard says you can’t test courage cautiously. Challenge people to be bold, and brave, and dare to take control of our better destiny and help forge a better, cleaner, greener world.

December’s highest priority: the Holidays!Think of ways you can make it green - consider the following:

Give your relatives Sierra Club memberships.
Give or plant a tree, or help a local park, or rec center, or school.
Send a donation in their name to the Food Bank, or local or international aid organization (buy a chicken or a cow for a village!)
Send a package to a military unit overseas. Send 10. Send gifts to Peace Corps volunteers, or hurricane relief, or nutrition, or literacy.
Do something for wounded veterans, or those institutionalized.

You get it. Make it the year you don’t give crap and you won’t receive it either. Give to those less fortunate. Give to make the world healthier, happier, safer.
